This is the best looking daybed I've found online. The modern design fits in well with our decor and it looks more like a couch than other wood/metal daybeds. I bought the trundle along with the daybed. Here are the pros & cons.
Pros:
- Very nice looking! Love the design.
- Nice color. It's a dark chocolate brown and the leather is soft.
- Super easy assembly. This was the easiest piece of furniture I've ever put together and I've put together a lot. Most of the screws are in place already so you just have to unscrew them and put it back in. No searching for the correct screw and no missing screws. The trundle wheels were a bit of a pain to put on but rest was easy. I'd recommend two people because it's big but I think one strong person could do it alone.
Cons:
- The slats seem a bit weak. I wish they were wider (seems thick enough) but as long as no one jumps up & down on it, I think it'll be fine.
Other info:
- The back of the daybed is not finished with leather. It has to be placed against a wall.
- The back of the daybed does not come down all the way to the slats. It's like a rail at the top with an opening below. This gap is just short of 9" so with a thinner mattress, you would see a gap between the top of the mattress and the bottom of the back piece. I don't think there are 9" mattresses so a 10" one would be perfect. Anything thicker than that would come up too much. Perhaps with an 8" mattress and a thick comforter, you could cover the gap but right now I have a regular thickness comforter on it and I can still see a small gap. Cushions lined at the back would work too.
- The trundle fits a standard thickness mattress. I think mine's 8" and it fits perfectly.
- The top of the daybed is a bit bigger than a standard twin mattress (it won't fit an XL size tho). There's space left all around the mattress and you can see the slats. The manufacturer says this was done on purpose to make bed making easier. Once I covered the mattress with a comforter and tucked it in around the edges, I can't see the space so I think it's fine.
Overall, I really like this piece of furniture. It's substantial looking and as long as you're careful when seleecting the mattress thickness, everything should be fine.
